Sports Cars

For years, the two premier sports car road racing series in the United States have been under the discriminating eye of Alleygroup Associates:  the American LeMans Series and the Grand Am Rolex Series. With the announcement in 2013 of a merger between the two series, a sea change in sports car racing has occurred in America. In January 2014, Jay Alley was at Daytona for the Rolex 24 Hours for the first time. Shooting the first event of the United SportsCar Racing series for Associated Press was a monumental undertaking of historic proportions. The merged series continues to feature multi-class racing, driver changes, an amazing mix of manufacturers and competitors from around the world.

The new series offers top notch driving talent, as well as an opportunity for up and coming road racers to gain experience. Drivers better watch those mirrors and look for the blue move-over flags however - faster cars are going to be overtaking. The racing action can be harried with so many disparate vehicles on the track, but rain or shine, the merged series promises to put on great shows which road racing fans love. Here's a slideshow of both series racing at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course events.
